2018 Château de la Crée, Pommard Les Petits Noizons Pinot Noir
Pommard is known for powerful, richly flavored Pinot Noir. Above the village at 1,100 feet in elevation sits the vineyard of Les Petits Noizons. It faces south and features white marl and limestone soil. Les Petits Noizons is regarded as a leading Pommard vineyard by Burgundy aficionados. Château de la Crée’s small block of dry-farmed 35-year-old vines utilizes biodynamic practices that deliver unusually pure terroir expression.
Complex aromatics of plum and black pepper leap from the glass, while the palate is refined and harmonious. Notes of red fruit give way to fine tannins and a supple mouthfeel. The overall impression is one of power and finesse, as the long finish leaves no doubt that this is a wine that will age gracefully and reward time in the cellar.
