2018 Château de la Crée, Santenay La Confrérie Pinot Noir
The southernmost village within the Côte d’Or, Santenay is located just south of Chassagne-Montrachet. Nestled in the heart of Santenay-le-Haut, its western exposure, old vines, and terroir of gravelly clay soil and sandy subsoil produce concentrated Pinot Noirs of great structure and density, with dark fruits and a hallmark spiciness.
With a complex nose of dark fruit and black cherry, the aromas of this expressive wine leap from the glass. On the palate, this delectable Pinot Noir features well-placed tannins, balanced acidity, and a concentration of black plum, dried herbs, and wildflower stems. Presenting a youthful tension, this wine showcases a lingering finish that will only evolve more over time.
